Rubik's Snake Solver (Twist) — 3D
This puzzle has no single solved state — instead you fold it into shapes. Click a wedge to twist the joint behind it one notch (shift-click for the other direction) until the 3D model matches your real snake, pick a target shape, then hit Solve! for a collision-checked twist sequence. Steps marked shortest possible were proven minimal; longer solutions are labelled honestly as near-minimal.
How to use this solver
- Orbit the 3D model, then click a wedge to twist the joint just before it one notch (shift-click twists the other way) until the model matches your snake. Reset returns to the straight bar, Scramble folds a random legal shape.
- Want the model to look like your snake? Pick a colour from the palette and click wedges to repaint their stickers (the Twist tool returns to folding). Colours are cosmetic and remembered on this device — only the folds get solved.
- Pick a target shape and hit Solve!. Impossible folds (wedges passing through each other) are rejected.
- Watch the twists with Play, or step through with Back/Next while folding your real snake.
About the targets
The ball and ring folds were discovered by exhaustive search through the same collision-checked engine that animates them; the dog is the exact fold confirmed against a real snake, entered through the Fold code box. The same exhaustive search also proved a solid 2×2×3 brick is impossible for a 24-wedge snake, which is why you won't find one here.
About this puzzle
The 24-wedge folding snake — no solved state; fold it into the ball, the ring, the dog or the bar. Unlike its cube cousins the snake has no solved state — with about 13.4 trillion physically reachable folds (Aylett's published count), it is a shape-shifting sculpture. This solver finds collision-free twist sequences between any two folds; steps marked shortest possible carry an exact-search proof, everything else is honestly labelled near-minimal.
